Container Minimalist ski Resort
Located 2,200 metres above sea level in the Caucasus Mountains of Gudawuri, Georgia, the Quadrum ski resort is made almost entirely of innovative converted shipping containers, stacked in a pyramid-like structure along the hillside and braced into the terrain with steel columns to reduce environmental impact.
Architects Sandro and Irakli are advocates of environmentally friendly architecture and minimalist architecture.
The five-storey building has reception and dining areas on the ground floor, while guest rooms overlap with each other, offering single rooms, family rooms and luxury suites. There are 11 lifts that lead directly to a 60km slope that all piste visitors can see from the hotel's restaurant.
The resort offers guests a quiet space where they can relax and explore the stunning scenery. The whole design logic of the project is to minimize the use of building materials, use more recycled industrial products, so as to achieve the purpose of environmental protection.
Each guest room has a container wrapped in wood paneling and a glass wall. Outside the room is an open deck, which also allows guests to enjoy the spectacular views of the snowy mountains.
The resort also offers activities such as yoga and swimming. There's even a sauna for those who want to sit back and relax after a day of mountain racing.
Container bar. - Power station by the ski rink
As a temperate country, South Korea is known for its romantic snow scenes, and Hongju Vivaldi Park ski resort is one of the most popular ski resorts when it snows in winter. In order to provide tourists with food and a place to rest, there is also the famous Goose Island bar.
The GOOSE ISLAND bar was built from a shipping container, considering guests sweating from a workout in heavy winter clothing might be in need of a cold, cold drink.
The coal ash shell is visible in the snow, and its roof serves as a viewing platform with a sculpture of the Goose Island brand. A number of dining tables and chairs are placed in the lobby, and there are large floor-to-ceiling glass Windows for guests to relax.
The interior decoration is also dominated by black, but many wooden elements are added, such as display cabinets and box walls, to make the environment more comfortable and warm.

Transformers at the Winter Olympics and Paralympics
Located in the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Center, it is the main competition venue for snow events of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In this area, more than 200 containers have formed temporary buildings, such as warm and wind-resistant barrier-free toilets, live competition workshops, temporary stands, and medical stations.
For the Winter Olympics, especially in the alpine skiing center such as outdoor mountain snow building venues, due to the limitations of mountain terrain, it is impossible to build permanent buildings all over the mountains. Temporary facilities reconstructed from containers can be easily used in a variety of different scenes, but also can be quickly assembled, directly installed to the site landing, immediately put into use, to avoid environmental, noise and other pollution.
This is the first time for China to use temporary facilities for integrated services in a key event. There are many difficulties to overcome from the idea to the implementation, and the problem of "keeping warm" is one of the challenges facing the design team. The Alpine ski Center is located on a high mountain, where the maximum temperature can reach -30 degrees Celsius, while the temporary facility for the Winter Olympics is required to reach 18 degrees Celsius indoors. How to ensure thermal insulation and heating of temporary facilities?
The design team optimized the thermal insulation structure of the container house through the calculation of thermal load. The low-carbon and environmentally friendly graphene heating film was combined with the indoor floor and wall paving process to form a warm and comfortable floor heating and wall heating configuration.
This is a row of white containers transformed to be suitable for the Winter Olympics and outdoor scenes without water conditions of the "motorcycle container ecological toilet". Equipped with electric doors that open automatically when approached by athletes, the door has an accessible platform and ramp for wheelchair access. On the right side of the gate, there is an electric panel with Braille, which is convenient for athletes and staff to open in emergency.
Because Yanqing racing area is adjacent to Guanting Reservoir drinking water source, all drainage indicators are required to strictly meet the Beijing standard A standard. Ecological toilet through solid-liquid separation, circulating purification and constant temperature antifreeze technology, to achieve the ecological treatment of toilet feces and water recycling flushing. After the overflow water enters the "ecological treatment terminal room" for the second ecological treatment, the effluent water quality can meet the Beijing Standard A standard and meet the drainage requirements of ecological protection in the competition area.
In addition, in response to the green Olympic requirements, all temporary facilities will be 100% restored to their original natural environment after the games, while also taking into account the demand for reuse after the games. All these containers will be recycled and transformed into camp rooms and smart cafes for recycling.
